Chris Levine-artist
Levine sees technology as part of art, rather than something tacked on to create whizzy effects.
"People have become more used to it, so its not a novelty anymore. It's more about the content and more about the experience. So the standards have to get raised, it's not just a gimmick factor. It's really about what the work is doing as an art form, what it's saying, how people are stimulated by it."

Just WATCH me. . . ." This article is written solely for wealthy readers."
"Because you are evil and she is an artist, Qinmin Liu wants you to buy a gold Apple Watch and give it to her, so that she can make art...""
and here i am struggling to pay my $45 cell phone bill.
Liu concept?? She is asking for gold watches b/c ...." i care more about individuals' behaviors and want to explore the relationship between desire and action."
we know everyone wants those apple watches, myself included....not the gold one, i would be fine with the stainless steel one.
Still, Liu explained: "I consider Apple a phenomenon, an undeniable phenomenon. So I feel like there should be someone who is willing to study this phenomenon."
heres her donation page if you wanna check it out: Liu's donation page
she writes: "If you own or plan to purchase a 18k gold apple watch, you are rich and evil. We are offering you one way out: donate to us. After all, why on earth do you need a watch? PS: If you know Bill Gates, tell him about us. He hates Apple watch more than anyone, since Microsoft can never make one."
hahhaha.
technology, installation art, public involvement, apple watch, questioning the role of technology and peoples lives/desires.
endless possibilities with each new item hitting the market.
best of luck fellow artists.

just watch me :)
i like this.... for charging purposes of course, but...
Q: What does long term exposure do to humans?
....this article states it is directed only to the receiver (not the entire range approx. 30ft)
interesting thought, can we create "paintings" or art using infrared light?
are there any artists you can think of if so?

remember the meditation room?
I came across this artist while researching the word memory for my thesis.
olafur eliasson:
"Olafur Eliasson is a Danish-Icelandic artist known for sculptures and large-scale installation art employing elemental materials such as light, water, and air temperature to enhance the viewer’s experience"-wiki.

MCA CHI.
http://www2.mcachicago.org
tiles is the new thing... MCA website also has taken this new aesthetic and platform. i remember working at microsoft last year when the new windows 8 was released...
tiles in real time is the all the rage.
i like them.
i think overall the website is really nice, its clean and white, and in comparison to the AIC website (which is gray and gloomy) .
education tab is cool cause its broken down for teachers, students, families or teens... i don't get to visit the MCA as often as i should or want to. I gotta get to it!

"they’re a mode to examine how machines and humans might interact with each other in the future. “The aim of this system and software was to understand the negotiations people make when machine and humans have different perspective and same goal,” Datta writes. “How they complement each other or counter each other.”"
cool idea.
StoryCorps.
http://storycorps.org/memory-loss/
I thought this site was cool and easy to navigate. i didn't have any idea as to what i was getting myself into but it became clear right away what the website was about.
in programs & initiatives i found something of interest to me and my thesis...
The Memory Loss Initiative:
The Memory Loss Initiative has created a unique toolkit called Commemorate, designed to help organizations record, share, and preserve the stories of clients living with memory loss.
Im going to be looking at ways to preserve and archive memory, this is one way thats new yet old. oral histories is our first history and I think its cool to hear personal stories. everyone has lived a life different than the next..
my grandfather has Alzheimer's i wonder if i could do this with him without him knowing. ...sad face.
and...
i always look at jobs and internships page on websites for fun.

A-GAMES PROJECT ----video games & education
"a new report on how teachers use video games in classrooms identifies features they find most useful to track student learning, as well as gaps where better tools could help link games more closely to the curriculum."
- A-GAMES stands for Analyzing Games for Assessment in Math, English language arts/Social Studies, and Science
- UNIV. of Michigan and New York university study of 5th-8th graders
- "formative assessment" vs. "summative assessment," is assessing learning as it happens (formative) versus at the end of the semester/high stake testing (summative)
- 57% of teachers use digital games in their classroom (survey)
- they found that a combination of video games and external resources worked best for student learning
- "they represent one of the fastest-growing areas of venture investment in education." $$$$$
- GAMES Are essential, but teachers find many issues in its beginning stages.
In 2011 alone, crowdfunding website Kickstarter raised almost $100m in pledges with more than 27,000 art-related projects.
How art & technology are crossing roads....
--Social Media as a tool for artists.
--3D printing as medium
--graphic design
--good art vs bad art
Q: How does technology allow for experimentation as an artist?
....
"the goal of a contemporary artist who is choosing to create art with new technologies should not be to "extract" meaning from the technological platform, but to use it as a base for new bold directions. "

FOUND OBJECTS. GIFS.
http://laughingsquid.com/pizza-is-the-new-black-a-fun-series-of-richly-colored-monochromatic-pizzas-made-with-unusual-ingredients/
This is for my MAT's. We recently taught a lesson on material exploration at an elementary school. Students created images using found objects and this reminded me of that lesson.
I don't know how to make "gifs" or whatever but it would be cool to create one large one of all of our students works.

An Ear on an Arm
http://time.com/3692990/art-science-converging-again/
"In 2007, the Australian performance artist Stelarc started growing an extra ear on his left arm through a series of operations that are still ongoing. The ear is actually made up of his own stem cells woven into a biodegradable frame. Eventually a Bluetooth device will be inserted and Stelarc will be able to hear and communicate through it."
That's crazy!!!
Do you consider this a merging of Art && science ??
It seems a little more like science to me.
